If you are looking for the purrfect scratching post than the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post is for you. I purchased this product several years ago and it is still in fantastic condition. The scratching post retails for $ 47.09, but it will be money well spent. The base at 16″ x 16″ is very sturdy and has yet to tip over, and no that isn’t a challenge to my kitties. Cats big and small have plenty of room to stretch and flex those claws because the post measures 35″ tall. From the runt of the litter to the hefty Maine Coon this post keeps my kitties from scratching the furniture. The scratching post can serve double duty when you add the SmartCat perch to the scratching post. The perch slides on to the top and then you have to turn two tabs to hold the perch in place. The red pad is held in place by velcro so it can easily be removed and machine washed. Not only do my kitties love the scratching post, but now all of them can perch on the top and keep an eye on things. The only thing that would make the post better is if the manufacturer would add a non-skid bottom to the post, but it’s very easy to buy a pack of non-skid squares at your local hardware store and stick them on the bottom.
